Leggings

A lot of people really hate leggings. I mean, if I had a dime for every time I overheard someone saying that they just "don't get" wearing leggings as pants... whatever. I really have no problems with it. Just make sure the top you're wearing covers your crotch and you're fine. And leggings aren't going anywhere. The next big thing is leggings with crazy patterns, which, as we speak, are literally everywhere. I don't see many people rocking them yet, but I am convinced it will happen. How could you not love any of the ones pictured below?

More Shoes

So I know my last post was about shoes, but you can't help what you feel like writing about, right? This trend has been around for a little while , but I'm not sure if anyone has pointed it out (or at least shoe lines have been producing shoes of this kind for a while, and the look will break soon if it hasn't already): two-tone shoes. Well actually, more specifically, shoes with different coloured toes. I just included the Giuseppe Zanotti lace-ups because they're so freaking amazing. I saw a picture of a girl on a website a while ago wearing closed-toe taupe platforms with black toes, and have been obsessed ever since. I would post the picture if I remembered where I saw it, but trust me, they look great on!

Necklaces

It used to be so hard to find the perfect plain t-shirt. But recently, every kind of perfect plain t-shirt you could possibly want has become available thanks to a number of new brands specializing in this basic - LNA, Kain, T by Alexander Wang (the best), etc. - and we're all eating it up. This is, therefore, the perfect time to invest in a "statement necklace" (although I hate using that term) such as one of the beautiful pieces below, all from Net-A-Porter, all for which I would kill. Everyone will complement you...

Trend

Visually interesting shorts. This sort of preoccupation with pattern has popularly been reserved for skirts, but this summer, shorts are repeatedly getting the same treatment. Pair them with a basic tank and sandals, and you're good to go. I'm particularly enamoured with the Rachel Comey pair shown below. (All photos from Creatures of Comfort).

A Peace Treaty

A Peace Treaty just uploaded their Spring 2009 collection. There are a lot of dip-dyed handkerchief scarves by which I'm not particularly impressed, but also some beautiful silk scarves that I'm excited for since I've been looking for a pretty silk scarf that's not obscenely expensive for a while now. My favourite is either the Dume or the Baha, both shown below.

For Coachella

I always fantasize about what I would wear to Coachella if I could watch the shows from backstage instead of fighting my way to the front through the sweaty masses. This Henrik Vibskov top from Forward by Revolve is it. I can just imagine the warm breeze flowing through it. Perfect.

Wish List

Retro orange and white. What I would give to be prancing around in the sun in these clothes right now, wearing red lipstick and pretending to be in the 50s.

Liking...

Red and green. No longer just for Christmas, this colour combination is cropping up everywhere. And I'm digging it. Below are a couple looks from L'Wren Scott's Fall 2009 offering, photos from Style.com.

OMG

The girls at Litter finally have their own website, and I definitely want one of their signature headpieces but might just have to splurge on some "shoe jewelry" first. Slash begrudgingly wait because I really shouldn't be spending any money right now... Oh but they're so cool! Can you tell I'm excited?

Desire

This Future Classics dress at Totokaelo is so so beautiful (amazing print, love the cut-outs, interesting colours), and I want it so so badly. Too bad it's over seven hundred dollars.

Nouvelles Obsessions

Karla Spetic: beautiful knots.

Emma Cook: just plain beautiful.

I found both of them at Maximillia, an Australian online boutique run by a girl with phenomenal taste.

Looking For...

I have been searching far and wide for a pair of denim bermuda-style shorts in a light wash to no avail. One American Eagle pair looked promising, but when they showed up, they were darker than the picture and the whiskering (ew) was much more prominent. If anyone sees a pair on any website, please let me know! I want a tight fit, none of this lose-fitting boyfriend crap. Grrr.

Matthew Williamson

A perennial favourite, I pretty much love love love EVERYTHING he does. How beautiful are these pieces? Absolutely exquisite.

Calvin Klein

Calvin Klein was one of my favourite collections of the week. Francisco Costa won me over with his raw silhouettes, the likes of which I'm not typically prone to, and the understated luxury of his fabrics.

The Little Guns

And finally. Here are some of my favourite looks from some of the lesser-known, up-and-coming designers that showed at New York Fashion Week. Phew!
