Fitted sweaters that hit at the hip...

Try something different for spring than the oversized styles we've become so used to. Wear said sweaters with some cut-offs, scrunched up sleeves, and tousled hair. Voila, effortless style.

Alexa Chung for Madewell, etc.

So pictures of Alexa Chung for Madewell's fall 2010 presentation have been posted here by Refinery29. Others seem particularly gaga over the strappy sandals, which I also love (I actually dreamt about strappy sandal heels with ankle socks last night... I am a loser), but what I really really REALLY want (slash need, slash have to have, slash can't wait until fall for, especially since I might not be in a city with a Madewell store, fuck I wish they had an online store, GAH) are the brown desert boots with stacked heels. They just look oh so hot on the model below, and would go with lots. Don't you agree?

Wanted from Creatures of Comfort

Yes this Opening Ceremony cardigan is everywhere, yes I'm sure hundreds of people have already purchased it, and yes leopard is being a little over-hyped at the moment, but I am, for some reason, DYING to throw this on, apply some bright red lipstick, and frolic in the outdoors.

+ This beautiful Wendy Nichol braided backpack that looks like something Rumi would buy, already has, etc. Le sigh.

P.S. I will not let this paper conquer me?

Re: Fall Coat

http://tavi-thenewgirlintown.blogspot.com/2009/12/its-all-downhill-from-here.html

Note her statement: "I have been looking for an olive coat for a while now." The picture she provides of Linda Cardellini in Freaks and Geeks is, essentially, EXACTLY WHAT I WANT. Ugh. To no avail, thus far. I suppose I will have to go vintage shopping over break, which is the only time I feel able to do such things (school is busy busy busy).

Re: PASTELS

Karla Spetic for pre-order at Maximillia. "I die."

P.S. I know I haven't posted in a while... A long while. I guess I've been distracted. But it's finals now so, of course, I am procrastinating and sharing images of beautiful sweaters with you instead of writing a paper worth 50% of my grade on indexicality in The Emergence of Cinematic Time. AH!!!

I promise I will be posting more next semester. Possibly even style shots. Maybe.

PASTELS

I'm feeling them... Just gonna throw that out there. (I would make some sort of collage if I weren't feeling so utterly dejected right now, ugh).

AND P.S. How hot are these pictures of Daria from Vogue Nippon (posted on Fashion Squad)? I'm not such a fan of the nipple-age, but DAMN - the clothes, the setting, the girl, the photography. (Speechless).

Cute Vintage

I used to go to their Etsy store (which is still operating) all the time, but Ramona West has recently launched their own website. They have a ton of really adorable dresses, as well as some other fabulous finds. You'll luv it...

Fall Coat

I've been looking for an olive military surplus-type jacket for a while now. I think this kind of coat could really be big sometime soon (if not this fall, next) because you can easily throw it over anything (although I would only recommend it for day), either to contribute to a casual vibe or dress down something more fashion-y (dressing down is not something I generally encourage, but in cities other than New York, London, Paris, etc. - i.e. Providence - it can be necessary). This particular coat - the Linhope - is from Barbour, which is not exactly military surplus (the Barbour website describes Barbour as "an authentic British brand providing a wardrobe of clothes for country pursuits, country living, and for those who simply love the country"), but it's exactly what I've been wanting. Almost grunge because of the colour, but well made and wearable outside of "country pursuits" such hunting (...) because of its simplicity. Yay!!! (Picture from Orvis).

Why Does This Coat Have To Be $966?

Boo. I looooove it. (Pictures from Oak).

Oh. My. God.

This Samantha Pleet romper at Bona Drag is, in my opinion, completely unwearable (it looks like it should be worn to bed... alone). But fuck. I just love wolves!

And they're everywhere! The wolf awesomeness below is brought to you by Nasty Gal, where this vintage shirt is for sale. It's too big for me, but I would DEFINITELY buy it otherwise. Wolves kick ass...

Just sayin'.

You know what people do ALL THE TIME?

Restrain themselves from buying things. I can't seem to do it. I have plenty of clothes IN MY CLOSET that I both need and want to get around to wearing, and yet, I continue to set my mind on purchasing beautiful but ENTIRELY UNNECESSARY items of clothing, shoes, jewelry, etc., etc., etc. Why?

WHY?

"Boyfriend" Blazer Bonanza

I really hate how the word "boyfriend" has to be put in front of every piece of over-sized clothing that is now considered fashionable. It's super annoying. But, I do love this "boyfriend" blazer silhouette that everyone's going ape shit over for Fall. Perfect (i.e. HOT) open over any top and some short-ass shorts, and also a good option to pair with awesomely patterned leggings. I'm still looking for the right one though.

This McQ option is cute, but over $500 AND sold out in my size. So I guess it's a no-go... (Picture from Net-A-Porter).

I like this Silence and Noise blazer from Urban Outfitters much better anyways (only $88!), but it stupidly only comes in white and navy. Boo. I desperately want it in black.

Plus, Wood Wood on sale at Creatures of Comfort.

Another Reason to Love Australia

There have been so many great lines coming out of Australia in the past few years that I can't even keep track anymore. But Gripp Jeans really needs to be mentioned. I love pretty much everything from their Fall 2009 collection and only wish I lived in Australia so I could purchase it ALL. Sigh.

More Lingerie

Okay. So I found photos on my computer of the post that I referred to (but can't seem to locate) in my post about the Kiki de Montparnasse garter tank. They follow. I still like the girdle she's wearing (it's vintage from Pixxi), but I think I've found one that's a little more my style...

This pretty thing is from Bordelle's Autumn Winter 2009 collection. Love love love. It would be great over a completely plain bodycon dress and some loud jewelry. Probably pearls. Mmm. If only.
